Yes, it’s easy to switch to Bleep Payments. Our team of Payment Managers has many years of experience in the Payments and Financial Services industry and are helping clients switch from their current providers on a daily basis.

How do I switch to Bleep Payments?

Our years of experience and expertise, coupled with our friendly and flexible approach really do help ensure our customers get what they need and are truly satisfied. When you speak with one of our friendly and knowledgeable Payments Managers, they will help you with all elements of the switching process. We will ensure a simple and effective set up of your new Bleep Payments card terminal so you can quickly be benefiting from your Bleep Payments merchant services.

Can my new merchant services provider cancel my old provider for me?

No. Due to data protection rules Bleep Payments are not able to do this for you. If you have a contract or agreement with another service provider you must cancel your agreement directly with them. We will help show you how to do this as part of the switching process.

What card types can I accept?

We enable you to accept payments by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and via other methods such as Apple Pay.

Do I have to use the card acceptance services provided by my bank?

No. Card acceptance services can be provided independently of your banking services so you are free to choose another provider.

How much does it cost?

With every business being unique, Bleep Payments will work with you to ensure we provide the right service at a competitive price. Both Credit and Debit cards are charged as a percentage of the value of payments, and you will pay a small authorisation fee per transaction. Your card machine rental will depend on which model you choose. We can discuss our charges with you in more detail when you contact us.

How long does it take to set up?

Your Bleep Payments account will be set up within 10-15 days of your application, subject to our terms and conditions.

Using your Bleep Payments Merchant Account

How long does it take for money to reach my account once I’ve taken a card payment?

You can usually expect the funding from card payments to be settled into your business banking account within three to five working days of the transactions taking place.

How secure is it to accept credit and debit cards?

Chip and Pin technology is very secure, and as a direct result has brought about a massive reduction in credit card fraud in the UK.

What is a ‘chargeback’?

A chargeback is an unpaid transaction returned to us by the card issuer. A cardholder, or the Card Issuing Bank, has the right to question a transaction up to 180 days after it has occurred.

Will I get charged back if I have an authorisation code?

An authorisation code only confirms the card number is valid and the funds were available at the time of the transaction. It’s not a guarantee of payment.

Do I need to have an agreement to take telephone or mail orders?

Only if you have received written notification from Bleep Payments you can accept a telephone or written order from a customer who wishes to pay using a Visa, MasterCard or UK issued Maestro card.

Card Payment Terminals

What types of terminals do you offer?

Bleep Payments offer terminals to suit you, however and wherever you operate. Whether you want to take payments at a till, at a table, or at an event, our suite of cabled, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G SIM card operated terminals allow you to take payment in any environment.

Can I rent terminals for short periods of time?

The flexibility Bleep Payments offer’s it clients is one of the key reasons businesses come to us. We are experts in supporting the events and entertainments industry; whether you need to take payments for a weekend, a few weeks, or even a few months, we can offer payment terms to suit all needs. Equally, we know some clients want the surety and cost effectiveness of a longer-term arrangement, which we can also cater effectively for.

Does my card terminal have to integrate with my EPOS till?

No, Bleep Payments terminals can operate independently to your EPOS till system. However, this direct integration can help reduce manual keying errors and can speed up your transaction times.

But can it integrate with my EPOS till systems if I want it to?

Bleep UK PLC is an award winning provider of EPOS solutions and one of our key products does indeed integrate the card terminal with the EPOS till system. This saves times and improves security whilst remaining fully compliant with Card Scheme (Visa and MasterCard) rules, and is fully PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) compliant. If you would like to know more about integrating with our till systems, please click here or call 020 8961 5200 to learn more.

How easy is it to start using Bleep Payments card terminals?

It couldn’t be easier. Our London, Leyland and Glasgow based technical teams configure and thoroughly test every one of our card terminals before they are dispatched. When your terminal arrives, it is literally a case of ‘plug and play’ to start taking payments. A simple to use instruction manual is also provided. Alternatively, please call our Bleep Payments helpline on 020 8961 5200 where one of our team of experts will be happy to help you.

Contactless Payments

What is contactless?

Contactless is a payment method that enables you to accept debit and credit cards for making low value payments without the need for Chip and Pin, or signature. When you are ready to take payment, the cardholder holds their card close to a contactless reader to complete the payment.

Can I still accept Chip and PIN payments for low value transactions?

Yes, you can do this if a customer prefers to pay with Chip and PIN or if they don’t have a contactless card.

If a customer gets too close to a contactless reader, is there any risk of their card getting charged accidentally?

No. The reader only powers up when you have entered an amount into the card machine. It then returns to standby as soon as the sale is complete. In standby mode the reader cannot take payment from a card. Moreover, a customer must hold their card within five centimetres of the card reader to make a payment. It is not possible for the card to be read from greater distances.

If a cardholder held their card to the card machine more than once, would they be charged twice?

No. Each sale must be either complete or void before another one can take place, so there is no risk of charging the customer twice or making ‘partial’ sales.

What is the contactless limit?

The current contactless limit is £30.

Can I accept contactless cards issued outside the UK?

Yes, you can accept contactless cards issued by a non UK bank.

Do all UK banks now issue contactless cards?

More and more banks and card issuers are issuing contactless credit and debit cards. Most cardholders will automatically receive a new card that supports contactless on the expiry of their old card, or the cardholder may be given an option to receive or apply for a new contactless card.
